It also means you have a primary care doctor who cares deeply about your overall well-being. Dr. Alka Kapoor, co-medical director of the Senior Care Center, sets aside an hour to get to know every new patient she sees.
“It is worth it taking the time to listen to patients and discuss their overall health, not just their main complaint,” Dr. Kapoor said. “Patients, especially the elderly, should not feel rushed.” After meeting with a new patient, Dr. Kapoor then works with the Senior Care Center staff to arrange appointments for the patient with necessary specialists, who will meet the patient at the Senior Care Center.
Senior Care Center physicians are proactive in treating problems such as poor vision, poor circulation and memory loss that often diminish seniors’ quality of life.
Doctors from the Senior Care Center make follow-up visits to nursing homes. They also work closely with SSM Home Health to accommodate patients who live at home.
