VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

General Information

PURPOSE

When you join the healing mission at St Clare Hospital, you are serving the heart of our community.  The purpose of the St. Clare Volunteer Program is to provide a group of volunteers to supplement the services provided by employees. Volunteers support and assist wherever they are needed throughout the hospital. A Volunteer makes a patient’s, visitor’s and employee’s experience exceptional. There are so many benefits of volunteering: it builds relationships, increases self worth, improves self confidence, and develops new skills!

REQUIREMENTS

Volunteers must meet the following minimum requirements:

·         Be age 16 or older

·         Provide a vaccination record

·         Complete a Background Information Disclosure

·         Agree to industry Confidentiality Policy

·         Attend General Orientation or student equivalent

WHERE VOLUNTEERS SERVE

Volunteers perform many services and tasks in the hospital. They work in our gift shop, transport and visit with patients, provide directions and media and perform clerical and cleaning tasks for staff along with many special projects. Volunteers are placed in positions based upon their interests and skills, if there is something you’d find rewarding please let the Volunteer Coordinator know and we can find a place for you.

GENERAL ORIENTATION FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS

All employees and volunteers attend a general orientation. We believe it is important to understand the hospital’s history, mission, values, and policies. The information provided will help you better serve our patients, visitors and employees and enjoy your volunteer experience. It is a 2 day program with breakfast and lunch provided.

STUDENT VOLUNTEERS

Students are encouraged to volunteer, learn more about healthcare careers, gain resume building experience and complete community or school volunteer hours. Student volunteers must also follow all program requirements but may complete their orientation education with the Volunteer Coordinator.

AUXILIARY MEMBERSHIP

Volunteers are invited to join the St Clare Hospital Auxiliary whose mission is “to promote and advance the welfare of St. Clare Hospital and bring community awareness of their healing mission and service excellence.” The Auxiliary offers many ways to serve, on their board and with community events and fundraisers. Many volunteers find their membership a rewarding experience however, membership is not required.
